Our Family Programs and Lab Classes are a treat for anyone that has an interest in marine life. Design your own t-shirt, make a shrimp aquarium, or feed our fish; it's all possible.
Does science have your interest? We offer fun and exciting laboratory classes such as squid dissection, and Jumbo Shrimp Dissection.

Interested in our workshops and lab classes for your school, scouting troop, family gathering, or any other group? You may qualify for our group rates. Would you like us to visit your school, child care center, or location? Most of our programs are also available as a mobile outreach program.

Can't come to us? We can come to you. This fall we'll be attending a range of public events with awesome activities to do. We'll even have live tropical fish to see and live tide pool animals to touch.
Bring your own light-colored t-shirt for free t-shirt printing. Try printing a shark, maybe a dolphin, or even an octopus!

Expert tip: baby onesies or pillow cases are great for printing.

Aquaponics is an amazing and sustainable way to grow fish and plants in the same system. It works because the fish provide waste as plant fertilizer, and the plants clean the water. Interested to find out how it works? We'll teach you in a simple and easy-to-understand way. The best part? You'll get to make your own mini aquaponics system with plants to grow and actual fish.

The Octopus: who doesn't love this amazing 8-legged marine Cephalopod? We sure do. Also known as Tako in Hawaii, this cool creature is a great artistic inspiration.

Make a tako painting with us and learn about this awesome ocean animal. Our instructor will give you some pointers on how to start, and then you can continue painting your own octopuse design. Paint one octopus, two octopus, three octopus? The choice is yours. Workshop fee includes a canvas to work on, paint, brushes, and all other paint supplies.

With our partner company - one of Hawaii's fish exporting businesses - we've developed a unique tour through our fish exporting warehouse. You'll be able to see how our fish arrive here, stay for a while, and go on their journey all over the world to pet stores, public aquariums, and research facilities.

This guided minute visit of the Marine Center includes a guided tour of our tropical fish exhibits with one of our educators, Gyotaku fish print craft on paper, and a visit to our Discovery Zone to touch animals.

New: the Guided Marine Center Tour is offered every Second Saturday of the month.

In addition to the guided tour, there is a chance to do several craft activities such as t-shirt printing, shell carving, jewelry making, and shell box making.

Join us every first and third Saturday between 10:00 and 12:00 p.m. for open studio to do crafts, or to relax and check out our fish.
